Projects / Commission / Birling Estate Kent

Birling Estate comprises of 1800 acres nestled along the North Downs of Kent in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Originally part of the possessions of Odo, Bishop of Baieux, half brother of William the Conqueror, the manor of Birling came to the Nevill’s in 1435 when Elizabeth, daughter of Richard Beauchamp, Earl of Worcester married Sir Edward Nevill and the estate has remained in the family since then.

I was commissioned by Guy Nevill to photograph the estate, creating a library of images for editorial and online use. From these images four were chosen as a retirement present for the Estate manager after 30 years of service.

BIRLING ESTATE

“We are very blessed to live in a beautiful and historic landscape and I was keen to find someone that could capture the magic and the feeling of the place. How lucky to have found Sarah, who has done it perfectly. The seemingly effortless images belie the amount of work and dedication behind them. I am absolutely delighted with the results and always looking for an excuse to work with her again.”
